We are pleased to inform you about several new and valuable benefits now available through the VHCDC Home Ownership Assistance Program (HOAP). These benefits are designed to support your journey toward homeownership, particularly for low-to-moderate income households. Below is an overview of the new offerings:

1. Virginia Individual Development Account (VIDA) Program

The VIDA program is a savings match initiative that helps qualified individuals save for a down payment on a home. Eligible participants will receive matching funds on their savings. Currently, the match rate is an impressive $10 for every $1 saved, up to a maximum of $10,000 in matching funds. This is an excellent opportunity for those working towards homeownership to significantly boost their savings.

2. SPARC Program

The SPARC (Sponsoring Partnerships and Revitalizing Communities) program provides qualified buyers with a 1% rate reduction on Virginia Housing mortgage bond-financed loans. This reduced rate can make homeownership more affordable and attainable for eligible participants.

3. VHCDC Down-Payment Assistance (DPA) Program Coming Soon!

The VHCDC DPA Program offers up to $10,000 in assistance toward your down payment and an additional $1,250 toward closing costs. This grant can make a substantial difference for those looking to purchase a home but needing financial support to cover these initial costs.

To take advantage of these programs, individuals must enroll in the VHCDC Home Ownership Assistance Program and meet specific eligibility requirements, including:

• Completion of 15 hours of homeownership education
• Completion of pre-purchase housing counseling
• Substantial completion of the Pre-Purchase Housing Work Plan
• No Open Collections, Charge-Offs, or Judgments
• Personal Savings of $1,500 or more
• Demonstrate monthly progress toward purchasing a home
• Use VHCDC In-House Service Partners

If you are contemplating purchasing a home anywhere in Hampton Roads, the Richmond-Petersburg area, Washington, DC/Northern Virginia, or Southside Virginia (Danville), we encourage you to explore these opportunities and take steps immediately toward achieving your homeownership goals!
